It’s better to underestimate rather than overestimate.
NEVER EVER over-sell a job offer. Nothing could be worse for an
employee than to arrive in a new country to find that nothing is
as it was promised. From apartment size to class size, don’t
embellish or gloss over things that prospective teachers will
eventually have to deal with anyway. The teacher won’t be happy.
Consider the following scenario: If you have told your prospect
that a furnished apartment will be organised for them, do not
exaggerate what will be offered. They cannot complain or be mad
if only basic furniture, such as a bed or a sofa, is present.
However, if they arrive to find that not only basic furnishings
are included, but that the apartment also has a DVD player or
stereo system as well, they will be extremely satisfied. If
extras are on offer then don’t be afraid to use them as bargaining
tools, but only advertise the things you are sure about.
-
Make them feel like they are Number 1.
What does this mean? It means responding and communicating with
every contact like it’s your only contact. If you make them feel
like they’re your number one priority, they are going to trust and
like you more. You’ll place more teachers and make more quality
contacts. If a teacher has a great experience with you, then they
are more likely to refer quality teachers to you.

Western management staff goes a long way.
Leaving your home country can be daunting for a lot of people.
Having people that speak the same language goes a long way to
feeling comfortable in a new country. Having a westerner to manage
(director of studies) teachers has great appeal. Teachers feel
more comfortable when they know that they have some who has been
in their situation before.
-
Clearly specify what the job offers in clear English.
Tell it like it is! There is no need to try and “spice up” a job
offer because, chances are, it will get “lost in translation”. Let
English teachers know what the job involves in a clear and direct
way – you’ll get a lot more enquiries if it’s clear and easy to
read.
-
Attach a logo to your advertisement.
Create an image for yourself by using a company logo. You must
include this logo in as much correspondence as possible. It will
help to “burn” an image into your prospective client’s thoughts,
and make it harder for them to forget you.
-
Post frequently.
Regular contact with your audience is critical in order to reach
as many teachers as possible. Many teachers won’t post their
resumes online and instead look at what ads have been posted. This
will keep you in their eye – they won’t forget you if you are
always there
